Indian Wedding in Tuscany

Jasheen and Neil are an Indian couple living in San Francisco who wanted to recreate the atmosphere, the colors and the tradition of the traditional Indian marriage in their wedding in Arezzo, Tuscany, in the amazing venue of Il Borro Relais. All the main rituals of the Hindu tradition were respected. She begun her day with the Mehndi, the ceremony in which the bride’s hands are painted with henna, while Neil, after his mother’s blessing, went to the ceremony location by horse, following the rite of the Baarat. Inside Il Borro, in a preserved area, the Mandapa: the traditional gazebo, decorated with floral garlands, was set up. Under the Mandapa a sacred fire was ignited. The ceremony begun with Jasheen’s arrival, covered by a silk cloth; when she got under the gazebo, Neil put a floral garland around her neck. The function proceeded with the Agni Parinaya ritual, in which the spouses walk three times around the fire, playing Vedic hymns for prosperity, luck and faith. Then there was the time for the main rite, the Saptapadi: the spouse made seven steps together around the sacred fire, while reciting invocations and promises for their future matrimonial life. After the seven steps, Jasheen and Neil were officially married.
At this beautiful wedding ceremony in Tuscany followed the traditional dances and, naturally, a great party. We found it really beautiful to approach a completely different culture, and have the possibility to work for them with our wedding photos.
